New Leadership Opportunities in ACDA
The American Choral Directors Association is now accepting applications for positions on the Choral Journal Editorial Board as well as for chairs on the National Repertoire & Standards Committee. Both areas are part of ACDA's six standing committee structure, and represent excellent national leadership opportunities for interested and qualified members. The National Repertoire & Standards Committee is accepting applications for the positions of Male Choirs chair, Women's Choirs Chair, and Show Choirs chair, and Youth and Student Activities chair. Interested applicants should email a resume and short vision statement for the position to Nancy Cox, National Repertoire & Standards Chair, at nrcox@swbell.net, on or before April 1, 2010 (see http://acda.org/repertoire for additional information).Choral Journal, ACDA's professional monthly publication, is accepting applications for editors of the Choral Reviews standing column, and the Sound Recordings standing column. Applications should be emailed to Choral Journal editor, Dr. Carroll Gonzo, at clgonzo@stthomas.edu, on or before April 15, 2010. Selected candidates will begin their duties June 1, 2010 (see below for materials to include in the electronic application submission).Applications for the Choral Journal Editorial Board positions (submitted electronically to Dr. Carroll Gonzo) should include the following:*Column applying for;*Vita;*Evidence of Scholarly writing; and *Statement of intent regarding your vision for the future of the column in terms of review format, use of website links, and links to sound bites of the choral music and/or sound recording under review. In preparing the statement of intent, consider the following:1. Procedures and criteria for selecting choral music and/or soundrecordings for review, either by an individual and/or a committee;2. Ideas for including a comprehensive listing of all-staterepertoire as part of the Choral Reviews column, and in a singleissue of the Choral Journal;3. Procedures and criteria for finding and selecting reviewers;4. Use of website links for sound bites and length and quality ofChoral Journal reviews appearing in the journal with the major contentof the review appearing on ACDA's Web site;5. Procedures for hearing and/or seeing the reviewed choral music and/or sound recordings;6. Ideas for identifying and working with our colleagues in the publishing industry; and7. Other forward-looking ideas that would make these columnsattractive and professionally relevant to Choral Journal readers.
