Amadeus Contest of Choral Composition Has Six More Works Published

Six more works presented in Amadeus Contest of Choral Composition will be published soon by InDICCEx (Chant and Choral direction Institute from Extremadura).

After publishing 5 awarded Works in the III edition of the contest, 6 more works considered of interest by the jury will be published as part of a book called “Vocal contemporary music in Extremadura”, carried out by InDICCEx.

This book will include works written by authors from Extremadura or based on texts/melodies from Extremadura. Finally, 6 works from the Amadeus Contest of Choral Composition have been included in the final selection, belonging to the following authors:  José Antonio Galindo, Manuel Dimbwadyo, Sergio Casorrán, Rubén García and Marta Lozano.

The works are La zorra and El encuentru by J. A. Galindo Alonso, Canción de cuna by Marta Lozano, from Extremadura, Díptico Extremeño by Manuel Dimbwadyo García, Los pastores y la gitana by Sergio Casorrán Samaniego and El “¿Ondi jueron?” by Rubén García Martín.

By this contest we are trying to promote and spread out works which have not been awarded or recognized but have quality enough to be advertised. The organisation of the contest is in charge of publishing independently the awarded works, but this year the organisation has proposed to InDICCEX works from previous editions based on texts or melodies from Extremadura which have not been awarded. InDICCEX selected the works aforementioned according to its idea of publication.

The organisation has reached an amount of 11 works published, that is only in 2009, all of them presented to the contest.

It is also remarkable that InDICCEx, through CONTEMP-CORALIA project (Extremadura and its Music), is carrying out initiatives in order to promote and develop compositions from or about Extremadura from the XX Century until now.
