POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT 

Assistant Professor – Tenure track
Department of Choral and Sacred Music 

Position Description:  Full-Time Tenure Track position in the Department of Choral and Sacred Music.  Appointment begins August 2010. 

He or she will serve as the Director of the Thornton Concert Choir, a 48-voice ensemble consisting of both undergraduate and graduate students.  This ensemble is comprised primarily, but not exclusively, of music majors. Additional responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate conducting, teaching various courses in choral music and supervision of dissertations and recitals. 

It is preferred, though not essential, that candidates also have background in sacred music and/or music education. Candidates should have college teaching experience as well as experience in either high school teaching or conducting professional and/or community ensembles (including church or synagogue choirs). Excellence in teaching and evidence of success in scholarly pursuits is required.  Doctorate required (ABD considered).
