Hamilton High School Chamber Singers
The Hamilton High School Chamber Singers is a twenty- five voice mixed ensemble. The group proudly represents the ethnically and economically diverse population of Alexander Hamilton High School in Los Angeles, California. The group focuses on singing a wide variety of choral music with appropriate vocal timbre and style.
The ensemble has taken top honors at many festivals and competitions throughout the United States and had the honor of performing at the 2006 ACDA Regional Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah as well as the 2007 ACDA National Convention in Miami, Florida. The Los Angeles Times has reviewed the group saying, “Performing with remarkable poise, subtlety, and musicality… this is an ensemble that deserves a far wider hearing.”
John Hamilton graduated “Cum Laude” from Central Washington University (1992) where he studied with Dr. Geoffrey Boers. He is currently completing a Masters in Choral Conducting at Cal State University Los Angeles (Three Summer Masters Program) under the tutelage of Dr. William Belan and Donald Brinegar.
He is an active clinician/adjudicator and in 2008 he had the honor of conducting the Oregon (OMEA) All-State Vocal Jazz Ensemble.
Classical and Vocal Jazz Ensembles under his direction have taken top honors at festivals and competitions throughout the United States and have sung for the IAJE as well as state and regional MENC and regional and national ACDA conventions.
