Assistant Professor and Coordinator for Music Education, Luther College
Luther College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor and Coordinator for Music Education to begin Fall 2010. Doctorate required by September 1, 2010; doctorate in music education preferred. The Departments of Music and Education seek dynamic candidates who are strong musicians with enthusiasm for undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts environment to guide a highly regarded music education program. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a record of successful teaching in the public schools, including K-12 general music; excellent musicianship; scholarly research; excellent writing skills; and competency or certification in Kodaly, Orff, and/or Dalcroze pedagogies. Candidates with teaching experience at the college level and experience in preparing and observing student teachers and pre-service teachers are preferred. In addition to a six course teaching load in music education courses, responsibilities include advising music education students and attending meetings and collaborating between the Departments of Education and Music.
