Church Music Director (Part-Time) in Berkeley, CA
Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church (ELCA), a young, vital, growing congregation in Berkeley, CA, is seeking a part-time music director beginning as early as July 25th, 2010. Scheduled hours: 10-12 hours / week: including 2 hours choir rehearsal, 2 hours Sunday Service, 4 hours weekly planning, and 2-4 hours worship preparation with the Pastor plus additional seasonal services.
Membership is a lively combination of seasoned (but flexible) members, new young families and single persons, many associated with Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary or UC Berkeley; children are present at every service. The congregation welcomes diversity of all kinds and is eager, with the pastor’s leadership, to combine traditional and contemporary forms of worship. The congregation includes music lovers and musicians and has a small and dedicated choir. The successful candidate will be proficient in organ and piano performance, willing to work with the children’s choir, and able to lead the congregation in worship. Additional instrumental talents a great benefit! Salary negotiable $9,000-$11,000 plus music budget and continuing education stipend.
