Encore Creativity for Older Adults Seeking Affiliate Chorale Directors

Join the movement! Encore Creativity for Older Adults currently has nine Chorales in the MD/DC/VA area, as well as two Affiliate Chorales in Hudson, OH and Indiana, PA. We are seeking to expand our Affiliate program across the United States. Encore Chorales are choral organizations for adults age 55 and above, under the direction of a professional conductor. Participants meet weekly for one and a half hour rehearsals for two fifteen week sessions. Sessions are concluded with a series of free public concerts in high visibility venues. The Chorale may perform alone or in combination with other Encore Chorales, where there is more than one in an area.

Participants will study vocal technique, learn challenging choral repertoire in four parts and prepare for concerts. This also serves as a social outlet for older adults who may otherwise have limited activities. The chorale concerts also provide entertainment for the local community. Another important goal of the Encore Chorale is improved mental and physical health as was documented in the George Washington University Creativity and Aging Study funded by the National Endowment for the Arts.
