The Music Center’s Boychoir and St. Thomas Episcopal Church are collaborating in seeking an experienced organist and choral director to serve as Music Director in a unique joint search. In consultation with the Rector and Executive Director, the Music Director sets the overall vision for the programs, including artistic and administrative initiatives. In addition to conducting a volunteer adult choir and two Boychoir ensembles, the Director oversees recruitment, promotion, and outreach. The successful candidate is expected to develop creative programming and further the growth of the current programs.

Both The Music Center and St. Thomas Episcopal Church are located in Battle Creek, Michigan. The Music Center is housed in a new facility and is the umbrella organization of the Battle Creek Symphony, Girls Chorus, Boychoir, Community Chorus, three Community Music Schools, and several other programs. One of the earliest churches in Battle Creek’s history (founded in 1842) St. Thomas Episcopal is a downtown church with a pastoral-sized congregation. It has a long tradition of social outreach, liberal theology, and catholic liturgy. The city's excellent schools, vibrant cultural organizations, diverse population, rich historical support of the arts, and over 1,100 acres of parks make it an ideal place to live. Battle Creek is located along Interstate 94, midway between Detroit and Chicago with access to several major colleges and universities.

Position is full-time with benefits and pension. Minimum requirements: BM/BA in Music or the equivalent with recognized artistry and superior skills in organ performance and choral conducting. Advanced degree preferred. Background in music education and music in worship are desirable. Demonstrated experience in developing and sustaining choral ensembles.
