ACDA Women's Commission Consortium

ACDA Women’s Commission Consortium

2009

The ACDA Women’s Commission Consortium is a group of women’s choirs that pool their resources to commission a new work for women’s choirs. The commission fee in the past has been $250-$300 per choir, which is due to the national ACDA office as soon as our group is formed.  You will receive an invoice.  The group members will suggest suitable composers and then vote on a short list.  The members may also vote on requirements for the composition, such as length, voicing, difficulty level, etc.

Consortium members will receive the new commissioned work by PDF file and have exclusive rights to copy it for their own performance.  The member choirs and their conductors will be listed on the work when it is published.  Choirs are encouraged to advertise their premier performances of the work.

If you are interested in participating in the next commission, which will probably be completed during the 2009-2010 school year, please email Dr. Debra Spurgeon, National Chair for Women’s Choirs Repertoire and Standards at dspurg@olemiss.edu .  You will be added to our consortium email list.
