American Choral Directors Join with Interkultur to Bring World Choir Games to the U.S.

Choral singing provides a beautiful model for living and working together in harmony.  This is particularly important in a troubled world that still doesn’t know how to find harmony in diversity.  This is what choral singing does all the time with its diverse traditions—creating harmony in diversity. When diverse voices work together, they form a unison voice—a choral voice. That voice is a message of peace, mutual respect, and understanding.

With this model in mind, INTERKULTUR and the American Choral Directors Association find it to be of utmost importance to form bonds that inspire choirs to come together and visualize the power of singing together, crossing political, religious and cultural borders.

We are very happy to announce that our two organizations have formed a partnership toward a collaboration that we expect will have a significant impact for choirs in the USA and in countries around the world.  As the World Choir Games move to Shaoxing, China, in 2010, and then to Cincinnati, USA, in 2012, we demonstrate the universal importance of choral music performance from diverse traditions.

Our partnership will consist both of the sharing of ideas and of practical collaboration in many fields.
