National Chair: Bill McConnell (mcconnellwt@sapc.edu)

William McConnell is Chair of the Department of Music and Associate Dean for Adult and Extended Programs at St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg, NC. He is active as a choral clinician and adjudicator, collaborative pianist, and singer. His choirs have been heard by audiences throughout the southeastern United States.  He is an active member of ACDA, Chorus America, the American Guild of Organists, and the College Music Society.  Prior to joining the St. Andrews faculty, he held appointments at Oklahoma State University, the University of Tulsa, and Oral Roberts University.  He holds the Doctor of Music Arts degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and the Master of Music degree in Choral Music Education from East Carolina University.


Central Division Chair: Charles Brown (charles.brown@cuchicago.edu)

Charles BrownCharles Brown is in his eleventh year as director of choral activities at Concordia University Chicago where he conducts the Kapelle and Mannerchor.  He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in aural skills, conducting, choral literature, diction, applied voice, and choral music education.  Prior to his appointment at Concordia, Charles taught choral and general vocal music education in the Pennsylvania and New Jersey public school systems, fostering a love of music in students from kindergarten through high school.  His continued passion for choral music education in churches and schools is demonstrated in the festivals and workshops he currently leads throughout the country.  A vocal soloist in his own right, Brown has been active both in the East and Southwest regions of the country, as well as in the Chicago area singing bass-baritone roles, particularly specializing in Baroque music.  He is also a member of Chicago's Grant Park Chorus.  Charles earned a D.M.A. at the University of Arizona in choral conducting under Bruce Chamberlain.

 

Eastern Division Chair: Peggy Dettwiler (pdettwil@ptd.net)
Peggy Dettwiler
Peggy Dettwiler is Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Mansfield University, where she conducts the Concert Choir, Festival Chorus, and Mansfieldians, and teaches choral conducting and methods. She holds the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York; a Master of Music Degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Texas at San Antonio; and a Master of Music Degree in Music Education from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. She has served as a guest conductor and lecturer throughout the country and has given presentations at numerous MENC and ACDA Conventions. The Mansfield University Concert Choir, under her direction, has been invited to perform at conventions and competitions throughout the world each of the past 18 years, and the choir won the Championship in the Gospel & Spiritual category at the World Choir Games in Graz, Austria, in 2008.


North Central Division Chair: Lee Nelson (nelson@wartburg.edu)


Northwestern Division Chair: Steve Zopfi (szopfi@pugetsound.edu)

Hailed as one of the leading young conductors in the Pacific Northwest, Steven Zopfi serves as Director of Choral Activities at the University of Puget Sound and is the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Portland Symphonic Choir, the official chorus of the Oregon Symphony Orchestra. Critics have hailed his work as "magical" and "superb" and choirs under his direction have been invited to sing at the local and regional conventions of the American Choral Director's Association, the Music Educator's National Conference, and other professional organizations. Zopfi has served on the faculties of Penn State University, the University of Washington, and Pacific Lutheran University.

Southwestern Division Chair: Bonnie Borshay Sneed (bonnie.sneed@swosu.edu)

Bonnie SneedWith more than 20 years of collegiate choral conducting experience, Dr. Bonnie Borshay Sneed is active in state, region, national and international choral endeavors.  Currently, she is the Director of Choral Activities at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, just an hour west of Oklahoma City.  She conducts the Southwestern Singers and Men's Choir, teaches courses in Conducting, Choral Methods, Choral Literature and Voice, and is active as a scholar having published several choral editions through Emerson Music and Colla Voce Publishing.   Dr. Sneed is a member of ACDA, currently serving as Southwestern Division R&S Chair for College and University Choirs; she just concluded two terms as Secretary for the National Collegiate Choral Organization.  She will be presenting an interest session at the 2011 National ACDA Conference in Chicago concerning National Guidelines for Collegiate choral conductors.  She is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Furman University and received her MM from Southern Methodist and the DMA from Michigan State University.  She has taught high school in South Carolina, Florida and Texas, and also has taught at the university level in Michigan, Alabama, Ohio and Oklahoma.

Western Divsion Chair: Cory Evans (cory.evans@usu.edu

Dr. Cory Evans, Director of Choral Activities at Utah State University, is from Salt Lake City, Utah.  He holds degrees from Utah State University, the University of Florida, and Arizona State University.  He serves as Associate Director of the American Festival Chorus, and has served as Music Director of the Northern Utah Choral Society, Music/Executive Director of Music Reservata of Utah, and as Musical Director of the Arizona Mormon Choir.  Cory has conducted internationally, and is highly sought after as a conductor, clinician, and adjudicator.  As a tenor soloist, Cory has performed throughout the world, and has been a featured soloist with several prominent orchestras.  He has also soloed as a member of the American vocal ensemble, CONSPIRARE, under Craig Hella Johnson.
