Dear Colleagues:
The dust is settling from our marvelous 2010 SWACDA Conference, and I would like to extend my warmest thanks to all who, by all accounts, made this a very successful endeavor. It seems to me that at the core of our organization is a love for the choral art at all levels, and a selfless attitude towards sharing, learning, and performing. We extend our thanks to the choirs and presenters who made the Herculean effort to participate, the SWACDA Executive Board for their continual contributions, efforts and insights, the Honor Choir chairs and committee members, and the Colorado Planning Committee for their “let’s roll up our sleeves” attitudes towards getting things done. My most vivid memory is from Henry’s 4-6 grade honor group, front row, 4th young girl from the right; she absolutely “owned” her music, was commanding in her movements, and contributed with no less skill than a soloist would have in the Bach B-minor Mass. The entire row to my right was in tears at their performance. It’s good to be a choral director!
Thanks to all for a marvelous event. See you in the great cities of Chicago in 2011 and Dallas in 2012!
