Children & Community Youth Choir Conductors' Retreat

January 13-14, 2018
Houston, Texas

Please join us for a two-day ACDA event over the Martin Luther King weekend, which is tailored for those who conduct children and youth choirs in schools, in the community, and in places of worship. The retreat will be a wonderful way to meet new colleagues in your field, and reconnect with old friends. After attending the varied presentations, reading sessions, and concert, you will travel home with ideas, techniques, and literature that you can immediately use with your choirs.

The retreat will begin around 8:30 on Saturday morning, and conclude at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Registration includes all sessions and three reading packets. Sessions will be led by experts in the children and community youth choir field, including Bob Chilcott, Emily Ellsworth, Melissa Keylock, Craig Denison, Marcia Patton, Craig Knapp, and more. ACDA Executive Director Tim Sharp will also present a session. The full list of presenters and sessions is available here.

A concert will be presented on Saturday night by the Houston Boychoir, directed by Carole Nelson, and the Treble Choir of Houston and Parker Elementary Chorus, both directed by Marianna Parnas-Simpson.

Pre-registration is highly encouraged, so as to allow the retreat committee to prepare for the right number of attendees. Only those who pre-register can be guaranteed reading packets and meals, so please do pre-register if at all possible.
