ACDA Women’s Choirs Consortium Commission

The ACDA Women’s Choirs Consortium consists of women’s choirs that pool their resources to commission new works for women’s choirs. The commission fee has been $250 per choir, paid to the national ACDA office once the consortium is finalized.

Consortium members receive the new works by PDF file and have exclusive rights to copy it for their own performance. The member choirs and their conductors are listed on the work when published. Choirs are encouraged to advertise their premier performances of the new works.

Schedule for Participation in the 2018 Consortium:

Call for participation: May 1, 2018
Deadline for participation - extended: May 31, 2018
Invoices sent to consortium members: June 2018
Commissions provided to membership: February 2019

Membership in the 2018 commission is now underway and will be completed by late January 2019. The composers for the 2018 will be announced soon. If you are interested in participating in the commissioning project and have not already indicated so, please email Dr. Phillip A. Swan, National Chair for Women’s Choirs Repertoire and Resources, at phillip.a.swan@lawrence.edu. You will be added to the consortium email list.

Important Resource

Conducting Women's Choirs: Strategies for Success is available through GIA Publications. The book is edited and compiled by former National R&S Chair, Debra Spurgeon. It is a terrific book, and one that all women's choir directors should have in their library! (You can find a review of the book in the August 2013 Choral Journal.)
