Honor Choirs

National Honor Choirs

It is to be noted that grades 6-9 overlap for the Children’s/Youth Honor Choir and the JH/MS Honor Choir.  Teachers are asked to make the decision that best represents their choral situation.  Singers from elementary schools and community-based children’s/youth choirs and boys with unchanged voices may choose to submit their applications to participate in the Children’s/Youth Honor Choir under the direction of Henry Leck since they are coming from a comparable ensemble.  Likewise, students from Junior High and Middle School choral programs, along with boys whose voices have changed or are changing may choose to submit applications to participate in the JH/MS Honor Choir, directed by Rollo Dilworth.  However, it is up to the conductor/teacher’s discretion.

TEACHER/CONDUCTORS MAY NOT SUBMIT A SINGER TO MORE THAN ONE HONOR CHOIR.  Any singer found to have been submitted to MORE THAN ONE will be eliminated from consideration.

The Technology Committee has provided videos to walk you through the process.  We are aware of numerous programs available to create an Mp3. Garageband (MAC users) and Audacity (MAC and PC users) are supported by the Technology Committee Help.

Women's Honor Choir - Lynne Gackle, Conductor

Men's Honor Choir - Peter Bagley, Conductor

THE AMERICAN CHORAL DIRECTORS ASSOCIATION ROTATES HONOR CHOIRS AT THE NATIONAL CONFERENCE LEVEL. MIXED CHOIRS (SATB) WILL RETURN IN 2013. ENJOY THE MEN AND WOMEN'S CHORUSES FOR 2011.
