Antiphonal Hosanna by G. Allen Smith; arr. by Jack Schrader
For two equal voices; View Score
Clinton Hardy Recommendation: This is a great piece for either 6th grade choirs or beginning treble choirs at the middle school/junior high level. I love this piece in the fall. It helps teach basic rhythms and melodic passages. This is GREAT for introducing solfege to a choir. You can also pull this back out in the spring if you need another piece for a contest/adjudicated festival.

Matt Hill Recommendation: A lovely ‘winter’ text about a walk between close friends, and nothing at all to do with any holiday. Feature your treble singers and a violinist in this ‘story’ piece that your singers and audiences will cherish.

Sing to Me by Andrea Ramsey
SA; View Score
Clinton Hardy Recommendation: I love this two part (SA) arrangement of “Sing to Me.” This is a piece that is geared towards an upper level treble choir who may not have a ton of singers in the group. I’ve had years when I needed to do SA pieces instead of SSA because of size, and this piece resonated really well with my students. There are so many moments and opportunities for musicality. The expressive singing that can be brought out through the musical line and text is incredible. I love the way Ramsey wrote this piece, and I think you will, too.

Clinton Hardy Recommendation: This piece is challenging for middle school-junior high choirs, however, it can be done! The message of this piece is so powerful. It was commissioned by Henry MS at National ACDA in 2019. The text is beautiful, and I think this piece offers you an opportunity to ask your students to be vulnerable in diving into what the piece means to them. I loved teaching this piece. It has some tricks in it where the harmonic line changes ever so slightly, however, you can teach the patterns and it is easy for them to get. This is definitely a piece you can start in the early-mid fall and perform it at winter, but it can also be a great challenge for contest!
