Join us for a hands-on workshop designed to equip choral directors with the skills and knowledge to guide students in expressing themselves through contemporary a cappella. Using members of a five-person professional a cappella group to demonstrate, participants will gain the tools necessary to teach students how to independently handle every aspect of a cappella performance, from selecting repertoire to arranging, beatboxing, and creating choreography. This session will draw on traditional choral foundations and pedagogy, honoring bel canto singing, while embracing innovative methods and styles of contemporary a cappella and providing tools to excel in contemporary commercial music (CCM). The Presenter will teach the fundamentals of crafting a contemporary a cappella arrangement, as well as the basic sounds of beatboxing and elements for successful choreography. The professional a cappella group will provide demonstrations, and participants will work in small groups. By the end of the workshop, choral directors will walk away with innovative teaching methods, enhanced skills in arranging, beatboxing, and choreography, and the tools needed to empower their students to take charge of their a cappella performances. Join us to transform your choral program and unleash your students’ voices like never before!
