Baylor University A Cappella Choir

Baylor University A Cappella Choir

Baylor University
Waco, Texas

Conductor, Kristina Caswell MacMullen

The Baylor University A Cappella Choir has enjoyed a vibrant history as the flagship choral ensemble of Baylor University. For over 100 years, choral singing at Baylor has flourished, with ensembles performing at many major concert venues throughout the United States.

The A Cappella Choir is an ensemble comprised of the most advanced choral musicians at Baylor, both music majors and non-music majors. Core priorities include a focus on meaningful fellowship, personal growth, musical excellence, and rich, artistic singing. The A Cappella Choir performs a wide variety of musical styles involving both solo performances and collaborative projects with other areas of the School of Music and outside arts organizations.

With a storied past, the A Cappella Choir has performed both nationally and internationally. Performances abroad include the British Isles, Germany, Austria, Italy, France, and South Korea. The ensemble has been invited to perform for the National Convention of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), the Southwestern Division Convention of ACDA, the Texas Music Educators Association Convention, the Baptist General Convention of Texas, Texas Music Educators Association Convention, the Texoma Region of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and the National Convention of the American Choral Directors Association. In 2020, the Baylor A Cappella Choir was named winner of the American Prize Collegiate Division. Additionally, the choir is involved with performances for the televised “A Baylor Christmas” production, released in over 350 markets throughout the country.

Current conductor Kristina Caswell MacMullen follows a notable succession of distinguished choral artists, including Euell Porter, Robert Young, Hugh Sanders, Donald Bailey, Alan Raines, and Brian Schmidt.
