Conductor, Liz Turner

Bio: Faubion Middle School in McKinney, TX serves a diverse population of approximately 1,350 scholars, 38% of whom identify as Hispanic, 13% of whom identify as African-American, and 40% are classified as economically disadvantaged. With 250 singers in the choral program, Bella Voce is an auditioned chorus with 50 singers that closely reflects the diversity of the Faubion community. With a history of success at Solo Festival, UIL Concert & Sight-reading Evaluation, and All-Region Choir, Bella Voce exemplifies the essence of hard work. Many of the singers are pillars not only in their choir family, but also in athletics, theatre, Student Council, and NJHS.

Ensemble Statement: Faubion Middle School is located in the heart of McKinney, Texas and serves a diverse population of approximately 1,350 students, 38% of whom identify as Hispanic, 13% of whom identify as African-American, and 40% of whom are classified as economically disadvantaged. Faubion opened its doors in the fall of 1986 in what was the McKinney High School. Our mission is to provide engaging learning experiences so students can become effective communicators, quality contributors, and socially responsible citizens. At Faubion Middle School, we make excellence a habit, and we are kind. The Faubion Choral Department has an average enrollment of 250 singers with four ensembles that rehearse during the school day; Bel Canto (non-varsity treble choir), Bella Voce (varsity treble choir), Cambiata (tenor-bass choir), and Beginning Choir (all sixth grade singers); as well as two speciality ensembles that rehearse before the school day; Synergy (a mixed small ensemble) and Rhapsody (a treble small ensemble). Our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where everybody is somebody and is welcomed into our family with open arms. Cambiata Tenor-Bass Choir was invited and performed at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in February 2022. Bella Voce is an auditioned treble chorus with 50 singers that closely reflect the diversity of the Faubion community. With a strong history of success at Solo Festival, UIL Concert & Sight-reading Evaluation, and All-Region Choir, Bella Voce exemplifies the essence of commitment and compassion through singing. Many of our singing scholars are pillars not only in the choir family, but also in athletics, Student Council, and National Junior Honor Society. They have performed numerous times for the Faubion community, both in school and out of school, including performances for school board meetings, caroling through out the neighborhood surrounding our campus, and the McKinney Retired Teachers Association.
