Julian J. Goods was born in Pittsburgh and raised in Chicago. He is co-director of choirs at the Detroit School of Arts and artistic director of Rackham Choir. At DSA, his ensembles have earned consistent Superior I ratings at MSVMA Festivals, performed with the Detroit and Lansing Symphony Orchestras, and won top honors at the 2025 WorldStrides Heritage Festival. His choir was also selected to perform at the Midwestern ACDA Region Conference and named the 2026 MSVMA Outstanding Choir of the Year. A two-time University of Michigan graduate (BM, MM), he teaches at Lutheran Summer Music and serves as organist at Hartford Memorial Baptist Church. His honors include the MLK Spirit Award, Earl V. Moore Award, and Diapason’s 20 Under 30.
