The Rutgers University Glee Club was founded in 1872 and is among the nation’s oldest tenor-bass choirs. Known for recordings, international tours, and innovative programming, it has commissioned and premiered works that encompass modern tenor-bass repertoire. In 2000, the ensemble hosted the National Seminar of Intercollegiate Men’s Choruses (IMC), featuring the world premiere of The Miracle by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer William Bolcom, and later appeared at national seminars in 2004 and 2010. The Glee Club has performed at ACDA National Conferences (2001, 2017, 2021) and Eastern Region Conferences (2006, 2010, 2014, 2020). Repertoire highlights include Schoenberg’s Gurrelieder with Sir Simon Rattle, Bolcom’s The Miracle at Lincoln Center, Berlioz’s Requiem, Shostakovich symphonies with Valery Gergiev, and Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex.
