Conductor, Clark Wayman Joseph

The St. John Church Music Ministry is a component of the music and worship arts program of the St. John Church, one church in two locations, Grand Prairie & Southlake, TX. The choir is a non-auditioned choir where the only requirement is being a member of the church. The choir provides music ministry for three weekly Sunday morning worship services as well as special services supporting Senior Pastor, Dr. Denny D. Davis. The St. John Church Music Ministry is comprised of four choirs: Celebration Mass Choir, Hallelujah Chorus, South Lake Choir and the Male Chorus. The choir’s instrumental component consists of keys, organ, bass and lead guitar, drums, trombone, trumpet and saxophone. Additionally there are three Praise Teams that minister weekly.

The St. John Church Music Ministry has recorded two projects and is the featured choir on Bishop Richard White’s Live Recording, I’m Glad.  Additionally, the St. John Church Music Ministry was the 2011 Dallas Regional Winner of the How Sweet The Sound Choir Competition, representing the Dallas Region in the National Finale Competition in Los Angeles, CA.  In 2012, for the same competition, the St. John Church Music Ministry was the How Sweet The Sound Dallas Regional Runner-Up, as well as the People’s Choice Award Winner. In 2013 the St. John Music Ministry was the National Winner of the Hopeline Award from Verizon’s How Sweet The Sound. As a result of this award, Verizon presented $10,000.00 to Brighter Tomorrows, a local organization that combats domestic violence.

The St. John Church Music Ministry participates in several annual ecumenical engagements including Project Unity’s Together We Sing with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Interfaith Jewish Seder Celebration and The Black Music & Civil Rights Movement Concert honoring Dr. Martin Luther King.
