Children’s and youth choirs are essential to the future of church music, yet many congregations face challenges in recruitment, retention, and balancing musical excellence with spiritual formation. This session explores practical strategies for building and sustaining a thriving children’s and youth church choir program using the model at All Saints Church in Pasadena, California, as a case study. The program’s multi-level structure supports singers from elementary school through high school, emphasizing age-appropriate vocal training, music literacy, and active participation in worship. A core value of the program is creating a safe, affirming environment for all participants, including LGBTQ+ youth. Attendees will leave with practical tools and adaptable ideas for cultivating vibrant, inclusive choir ministries that nurture the next generation of church musicians and leaders.
