BYLAWS REVISION

IL-ACDA members will be asked to vote to approve Bylaws changes to the IL-ACDA chapter Bylaws. This vote will open on Friday, October 13 and close on Friday, October 20 at 4pm central. Prior to the vote, the IL-ACDA Board is providing the following two documents to inform your decision

Current IL-ACDA Bylaws: These are the current Bylaws for the Chapter

REVISED IL-ACDA Bylaws: This is the new version you will be voting on.

IL-ACDA ELECTION

In order to bring more transparency and applicant access to the election slate process, your ACDA state leadership has been engaged in a new and unique process for this election.

The candidates are listed below with their CVs and their written responses to questions from the Election Steering Committee. Additionally, each candidate was given up to three minutes to share anything they wished with the IL-ACDA membership. These materials are provided for your reference and to help you make an informed decision.

The election opens on Friday, October 13 and closes at 4pm central on Friday, October 20.

How will this work?

The Election Steering Committee is composed of Robyn Hilger, ACDA Executive Director, Arreon Harley-Emerson, National Chair for the Diversity Initiatives Standing Committee, Paul Laprade, current IL-ACDA President, Laura Coster, IL-ACDA Immediate Past President, Lee Kesselman, IL-ACDA Past-President, and Mary Hopper, ACDA National and IL-ACDA Past President. Our charge has been to develop the new process and steward the election. The process started with an open call to all eligible IL-ACDA members to apply. We received three applications. The committee has decided to present all three applicants to the membership.

We will use Ranked Choice Voting to ensure that there is a clear choice even with multiple candidates presented. You will rank the candidates for #1 for your top choice, #2 for your second choice and #3 for your final choice. Want to know more about how Ranked Choice Voting works? USE THIS LINK and there’s a great video on the homepage. It’s pretty cool in circumstances like this so that we end up with a clear top choice from the membership. Using ranked choice voting, we can also declare the top two candidates which is important. See below.

You will elect the office of President-elect AND, in an early election, the office of President-elect designate. All three candidates have agreed to this format and to the terms of service. The Election Steering Committee believes this will provide a level of stability for Illinois in the coming years. Your top choice will serve as President-elect and your second choice will be named the President-elect designate.
